About the Book

Bible Doctrines: Sixteen Pillars of Truth by P. C. Nelson and Pius Wawire was first printed by EAST Press, Nairobi Kenya, in 1992.  It was an adaptation of a classic work on Pentecostal doctrine by P. C. Nelson.

About the Author

P. C. Nelson and his parents immigrated to America from Denmark in 1872. He was a pioneer Pentecostal educator and master linguist, reported to have a reading knowledge of 25 languages. Weldon E. Pior called him one of “ten most intelligent men of the USA” during his lifetime. He wrote the Tenets of Faith (Sixteen Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God) which were adopted by the Assemblies of God at the first convention in 1914.

In 1927, Nelson established Southwestern Bible School (presently Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie, TX). Dr. Nelson entered Denison University in 1918, completing his B.A. in 1897. In 1899, he entered Rochester Theological Seminary where he complete his graduate studies in religion and language.

Rev. Pius Wawire reviewed the book and also taught it at a Bible school during the book’s development. He provided illustrations, suggested practical applications, and helped edit the text to increase its cultural relevance.
