A word to the wise. Enlarge your world. Enhance your learning experience. Discover new and expanded truth about God. Utilize the library!
A gift of books from Central Bible College and Evangel University has been shipped to five Africa Assemblies of God Bible schools. Other Africa Bible schools are building their training programs around existing libraries on their campuses. Libraries lay a solid foundation for the expansion of each training effort. Libraries are a gift from God!
Equatorial Guinea’s New Library
Equatorial Guinea, the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa, is comprised of a mainland area and four islands. Malabo, the capital city, is located on Bioko Island, the largest of the islands. Bata is the major city on the Rio Muni mainland.
Mark and Victoria Turney opened the first Assemblies of God Bible School in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the first floor of Central Assembly of God in 1996. A couple of years later the Turneys opened a second site in Bata. A small building was built close to Bata Central Assembly of God church and served as the training center for several years.
Permanent sites were obtained both in Malabo and Bata in 2000. The land was cleared and the first building to be erected on each site was a library. Funding was provided for books, shelving and a study area. Academic resources were made available to students for class preparation, research and completion of degree study requirements. Teachers have utilized the resources for class preparation too.
General Secretary Carpoforo Ochago, serves as director of Equatorial Guinea Bible School with a total of 53 students at the two campuses and the national director of Global University with 16 enrolled in the BA program. Ochago has a desire to train pastors and develop more teachers for the Bible school. Good libraries are a great asset in achieving his goals.
