The Republic of Mozambique is a massive country in Southern Africa with a coastline stretching more than 2500 kilometers from Tanzania to South Africa. According to 2022 estimates, the country’s population is around 30 million.
In recent years, the Assemblies of God in Mozambique have seen tremendous growth in the number of congregations that have been established. Today, there are approximately 1.6 million believers in the Assemblies of God in Mozambique. This growth has created a desperate need for trained leaders. Pastors, elders, deacons, and other congregational leaders need ministry training at the diploma and bachelor’s degree levels. More Bible schools need to be opened and more leaders need to be trained to ensure that the harvest is not lost.
Last month, in collaboration with our AGWM missionary team on the ground, ATTS held a strategic training seminar for the first time in Maputo, the capital and largest city of Mozambique. More than 60 Bible school teachers came together to study principles of teaching, using the Africa’s Hope Discovery Series textbook by the same name. The seminar was led by Dr. Carl Gibbs. “These leaders were so excited to have the opportunity to study Principles of Teaching in their language,” Gibbs explained, “they were so hungry for training.”
The need for trainers in Mozambique has never been greater than it is today. Please join us in praying for Mozambique. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send more laborers into this ripe harvest field.
