Advanced Hermeneutics: Understanding the Bible in Context

Advanced Hermeneutics: Understanding the Bible in Context encourages those who read the Bible to pay attention to the contexts in which God inspired the Bible. These contexts include the literary context of the passage and the book, the cultural and historical context that was originally addressed, and the context of the genre (type of writing) in which the writers wrote. Believers in all cultures can begin their study of the Bible with this shared foundation—the way God gave us the Bible originally. Of course, the Spirit will then lead us in applying the message to our diverse cultural situations today, but we start with what the Spirit has already inspired because God will not contradict what He has already spoken.
