New Testament Backgrounds: History, Culture, and Daily Life of the New Testament World

NT300

Jason McClaflin

New Testament Backgrounds is an introduction to the world that stands behind the text of the New Testament. It provides a survey of the main historical events and developments that connect the Old Testament times to the New Testament. It also examines some of the major social issues that were known to the writers of the New Testament but are no longer part of our modern societies. This type of study provides a framework for understanding the life and ministry of Jesus and the apostles and gives answers to practical questions that modern readers may have about life in the ancient world regarding things like religion, travel, work, and politics. Examples from the New Testament are given throughout the book to show how the information can be used to better understand the Bible.
