OT205
Tim Lord
The Old Testament Historical Books contain some of the best-known stories of the Old Testament: Joshua’s conquest, David’s reign, Elijah’s miracles, and Esther’s deliverance. We see lived out before us in the pages of Scripture lessons of grace, wisdom, faith, forgiveness, perseverance, courage, and redemption. The text provides the student with an overview of these books and also keeps the larger themes of the Bible—such as God’s love for the nations—in view. As the student becomes familiar with the Historical Books, he or she will also see examples which demonstrate how to interpret the narrative portions of Scripture and find lessons and applications for ministry in the modern context. The truths of Scripture are eternal truths, and we find wisdom for our life and ministry in all portions of the Bible. Every student of Scripture will benefit from the lessons the Historical Books provide for us.
